Two minute drawings

Today we finally have some white covering/blanketing our out of doors scenery. Our studio is back in order now that the guests have left and the flu is gone. I enjoyed sitting at my new table next to the window this morning just gazing at the glaze outside. It is inspiring to gaze out the window sometimes.
Here is the scene from that window in a two minute drawing... a scribble really. Maybe we have to start a two minute drawing group in flickr. So many people mentioned trying it out? What do you think?

I think that would be a great idea! I imagine myself trying and only having half a drawing - ha,ha,ha! I would try though :)

susan that is a great idea, i'm up for it, might help me keep my new year's resolution to draw daily.

also the egyptian clay art your daughter made is so cool. my daughter loves all things egyptian too (as do i) and yes isn't it amazing how kids just get an idea and there it is! so intuitive and without resistance - something to aspire to =)

I'd be into that... Would we have to use special egg timers that buzzed when it was time to stop? Or would we be on the honor system? ;)

I do worry about letting people know about the time a piece of art takes to complete. It's a popular belief of non-artists that time is an indicator of quality in art. But if I've been dreaming about a piece of art for days and then it comes together gorgeously in a couple of hours, it isn't worth any less then a piece I struggled over for months (or even years.)

Plus I feel art time is cumulative. Any piece is the time actually spent making it, plus 6 years of art school and nine years as a working artist...

And why I'm digressing is because the drawing is extremely lovely and if you hadn't said that it took 2 mins, no one would have known....

wonderful! i will look into getting a group started...
ladyk - i agree, time is relative - i think it is the idea of doing something quickly just for fun, for play which could be engaging and hopefully habit forming! just to get ideas out. some of my best work took the least amount of time because i didn't over-do it.
you know how that is! :-)
